With all the joshua trees in the park, the question always arises “Which is the biggest?”
Well, at one time, it was this mammoth example:
Located just a few hundred yards from the Covington Flats upper backboard, it stood for many years as a source of wonder to hikers and campers. But alas, it died a few years ago and this magnificent hulk is all that is left of the biggest joshua tree in Joshua Tree National Park.
The good thing is, it now provides a giant home for all the small reptiles and birds that make their homes in the bark and trunks of decaying trees. Nothing goes to waste in nature!
